Total Carnage – SNES Game

Total Carnage is an overhead run-and-gun shooter converted from the arcade. You control a heavily armed soldier fighting through an enemy military complex, moving in eight directions while firing at troops, turrets, vehicles, and mutated creatures that swarm the screen. Weapon pickups replace your standard gun with spread shots and other heavy firepower for a limited time, and grenades clear tighter groups. Scattered through the levels are hostages and prisoners you can rescue for bonuses, along with destructible scenery hiding items. Levels are laid out as scrolling battlefields punctuated by boss encounters against oversized machines and mutants. The game supports two players cooperatively, with both fighting through the same screen at once. Constant enemy fire keeps the emphasis on movement and crowd control.
