Wonder Boy III: The Dragon’s Trap is a Sega Master System action platformer that opens with the hero cursed and transformed into a lizard-like creature. From there you explore an interconnected world of towns, dungeons and passageways, gaining new animal forms by defeating dragons. Each form plays differently: some can breathe fire, some can fly, some can swim and some are small enough to fit through narrow gaps, and progress depends on returning to earlier areas with the right body to reach places previously blocked. Gold collected from enemies buys swords, armour, shields and boots from shops, and hidden rooms hold extra items and hearts. Play mixes combat and platforming with backtracking and map knowledge, and passwords let you resume your progress rather than starting over.
