Alone in the Dark – Wii Game

Alone in the Dark on Wii is a horror action game starring Edward Carnby, who wakes in modern-day New York with no memory and finds Central Park at the centre of a supernatural crisis. Progress is broken into chapters, with the story presented in an episodic style. Much of the design revolves around improvisation: you combine items you find, such as bottles, cloth and fuel, into makeshift weapons, and fire is central both as a tool and a threat, spreading across surfaces and burning enemies that ordinary bullets do not stop. Rather than a menu screen, inventory is viewed by looking inside Carnby’s jacket. Sequences mix exploration and combat on foot with driving through the city streets, and the Wii release uses the remote and nunchuk for aiming and item handling.
