Ape Escape – PS1 Game

Ape Escape is a 3D platformer for the PlayStation built around the DualShock controller’s twin analogue sticks. The left stick moves your character while the right stick controls your gadgets, so swinging the net to catch a monkey, steering a remote-controlled car or spinning a hoop all use directional flicks rather than button presses. Your goal is to recapture monkeys that have been scattered through time by Specter, and levels are set in eras and environments ranging from prehistoric landscapes to city streets. Each monkey wears a light that shows its alert state, and catching them often means sneaking up, cutting off escape routes or using the right tool for the terrain. New gadgets unlock as you progress, opening paths in earlier stages and encouraging you to return for monkeys you missed the first time.
