Azure Dreams – PS1 Game

Azure Dreams is a role-playing game for the PlayStation in which you play Koh, a young man from the desert town of Monsbaiya who climbs the Monster Tower that looms over it. The tower’s floors are randomly generated each time you enter, and Koh returns to level one on every new expedition, keeping items and progress made outside instead. Defeated monsters leave eggs that can be hatched into familiars, which you raise, level and bring along as companions with their own abilities. Between climbs you spend time in the town, funding new buildings and facilities and talking to residents, including relationship subplots with several characters. The mix of turn-based dungeon crawling, monster raising and town development gives the game a loop of short runs and long-term growth.
