Black – PS2 Game

Black is a first-person shooter built around gunplay and destruction. You move through mission-based levels as a soldier working through a series of operations, using assault rifles, shotguns, submachine guns, pistols and explosives against enemy squads. The game’s emphasis is on the weapons themselves: each has weighty sound design, heavy recoil and visible impact on the environment. Cover crumbles under sustained fire, walls chip apart, barrels and gas canisters detonate, and much of the scenery can be shot away, which pushes you to keep repositioning rather than settle into one spot. Levels are set in run-down industrial areas, villages and compounds, with objectives that involve clearing areas, destroying targets and pushing toward an exit. Live-action sequences frame the story between missions.
