Breakdown – Xbox Game

Breakdown is a first-person action game for the original Xbox. You play as Derrick Cole, a man who wakes with no memory in a research facility and gradually learns what has been done to him and who the attacking forces are. The game keeps you inside Derrick’s viewpoint at all times, including cutscenes, conversations, climbing, eating and taking hits, so the camera never cuts away to a third-person shot. Combat mixes gunplay with first-person hand-to-hand fighting, using punches, kicks and blocks aimed with the same controls you use to shoot. Story sequences alternate with corridor and facility exploration, and abilities expand as the plot develops. The emphasis is on physical presence and continuity of perspective rather than open-ended level design.
