Bugs Bunny’s Birthday Blowout is a side-scrolling platformer for the NES. Bugs is heading to his own birthday party, and the rest of the Looney Tunes cast has decided to make the trip difficult. You run and jump through themed stages, using a large mallet to whack enemies and clear obstacles rather than stomping on them. Stages are grouped into worlds, each capped by a confrontation with a familiar character from the cartoons. Level design leans on simple platform layouts, moving hazards and enemies that shuffle back and forth, with pickups scattered along the way. The graphics use bright colours and cartoon-style backdrops, and the difficulty is pitched toward younger players, making it a straightforward platformer for anyone who likes the Looney Tunes characters.
