Critical Depth – PS1 Game

Critical Depth is a vehicular combat game for the PlayStation set underwater. You choose from a roster of submersibles and pilots, each with different speed, armour and signature weapons, then fight in enclosed undersea arenas. Movement is fully three-dimensional, so you climb, dive and circle opponents while tracking them with torpedoes, mines and other munitions picked up from the environment. Matches revolve around eliminating rivals and recovering pods that surface during the fight, giving the deathmatch a secondary objective to chase. Alongside the single-player campaign, in which each pilot has their own motivation for being there, there is split-screen play for two players. The arenas include wrecks, caverns and other obstructions that can be used for cover, and the emphasis throughout is on fast arcade shooting rather than realistic submarine handling.
