Dick Tracy – Sega Genesis Game

Dick Tracy on Sega Genesis is a side-scrolling action game starring the comic strip detective. You move Tracy through city streets and interiors dealing with armed criminals, using a pistol for enemies in your own plane and a tommy gun to shoot at targets in the background layer, aiming with a crosshair that shifts along the back of the screen. That two-plane shooting is the core of the design, so fights involve watching both foreground thugs and gunmen positioned further back. Punches handle enemies at close range, and health and ammunition pickups appear along the way. Stages end with tougher opponents drawn from the strip’s rogues’ gallery, and the art keeps to the trench coats and 1930s city look of the source material.
