Dick Tracy – Sega Master System Game

This Sega Master System release puts you in the role of comic strip detective Dick Tracy in a side-scrolling action game. You work through city environments confronting armed criminals, using punches at close quarters and gunfire at range, with pickups appearing along the route. The 8-bit presentation keeps the strip’s period setting of trench coats, hats and gangsters, and stages build toward tougher individual opponents. Controls are simple, using the Master System’s D-pad and two buttons for movement, attacking and jumping, so the game is straightforward to pick up. Difficulty comes largely from managing crowds of enemies and limited health across a stage.
