Doom Troopers is a side-scrolling run-and-gun action game for the Sega Genesis, based on the Mutant Chronicles science fiction setting. You play as a heavily armed soldier fighting through corrupted, gore-soaked environments filled with mutant enemies, working from left to right while jumping, ducking and firing in multiple directions. Weapon and ammunition pickups appear along the way, letting you swap your default gun for stronger firepower, and boss creatures block progress at the end of stages. The presentation leans on dark, grimy artwork and exaggerated blood effects, giving it a harsher tone than most platform shooters on the system. Play is straightforward and combat-focused, with limited lives and continues pushing you to learn enemy placement across each stage.
