Double Dragon – Gameboy Game

Double Dragon on Game Boy is a handheld version of the side-scrolling beat ’em up. You move through urban streets and other stages punching, kicking and throwing waves of thugs, picking up dropped weapons such as bats and whips to use until they are knocked from your hands. Enemies approach from both sides and attack in groups, so positioning and knowing which strikes cover the most space matter more than button mashing. Bosses appear at the ends of stages with longer health bars and tougher attack patterns. The monochrome presentation scales the arcade original’s environments and sprites down for the small screen, and the two-button layout maps attacks and jumping with combined-press moves. Progress is tied to a limited stock of lives and continues.
