Earthworm Jim – Sega Genesis Game

Earthworm Jim is a run-and-gun platformer in which you control a worm wearing a powered suit. Jim carries a plasma blaster for shooting enemies and can use his own head as a whip, letting him strike foes at close range, latch onto hooks to swing across gaps and hover briefly to slow a fall. Levels are built around detailed cartoon environments with hazards, hidden routes and pickups for health and ammunition, and several break from standard platforming entirely: there are racing sections against a rival bounty hunter, underwater segments and stages with unusual movement rules. Bosses are large, heavily animated set pieces with their own attack patterns. The Genesis version features multi-layered scrolling backdrops, expressive sprite animation and the series’ slapstick cartoon humour throughout.
