Ecco Jr – Sega Genesis Game

Ecco Jr. is an underwater game aimed at younger players, built on the swimming and exploration of the Ecco the Dolphin series but stripped of its difficulty and danger. You control a young dolphin, swimming freely through open ocean areas, using sonar to communicate and surfacing for air. Rather than fighting enemies or solving punishing puzzles, you take on gentle tasks given by other sea creatures, such as finding things, guiding animals or reaching a particular location. The pace is slow and unhurried, with no way to lose in the conventional sense, and the controls emphasise the fluid movement and momentum of swimming. Presentation carries over the series’ watery visuals and calm music, making it an exploratory game rather than an action one.
