Ecco the Dolphin – Sega Genesis Game

Ecco the Dolphin is an underwater action-adventure in which you control a dolphin whose pod has been swept away. You swim through side-scrolling ocean levels, surfacing to breathe before your air runs out, and use sonar both to attack and to communicate with other sea creatures and glyphs that block or open your path. Attacking is done by charging into enemies, so positioning and momentum matter more than reflex shooting. Levels range from open water to cramped underwater caverns and ice fields, mixing exploration, maze navigation and environmental puzzles with hazards such as sharks and jellyfish. Password support lets you return to later stages. The presentation emphasises atmospheric water visuals and a synthesised soundtrack, and the pacing is deliberate rather than fast.
