An early PlayStation 2 entry in EA’s annual football (soccer) series. You play full eleven-a-side matches with licensed clubs and national teams, choosing between exhibition games, cup competitions and league seasons. The PS2 hardware brings more detailed player models, stadiums and crowds than the previous generation, with multiple camera angles available during play. Controls cover passing, through balls, crossing, shooting and tackling, along with dedicated aiming for free kicks, corners and penalties. Between matches you can adjust formations, tactics, line-ups and substitutions, and match settings include difficulty and half length. Commentary and crowd audio accompany matches, with a licensed soundtrack on the menus. Multiplayer lets you compete against another player on the same console, with support for more players using a multitap.
