FIFA Soccer 96 – Sega Saturn Game

FIFA Soccer 96 brings EA’s football series to the Sega Saturn. Matches are played 11-a-side from an angled overhead-style camera, using a small control set for passing, shooting, crossing and tackling, with set pieces for free kicks, corners and penalties. You can choose from a selection of club and national teams and play friendly matches, league seasons or knockout tournaments, adjusting formations and tactics before kick-off. The presentation uses polygonal player models with commentary and crowd audio during play, and instant replays after goals. Multiplayer is supported locally, so two players can face off or team up in the same side. This is an early entry in the series, so the pace and control scheme are noticeably simpler and more direct than in the later 3D FIFA games.
