Gex 3

Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko on Game Boy Color adapts the wisecracking gecko’s adventures into a handheld platformer. You guide Gex through stages themed after television genres, jumping between platforms, tail-whipping enemies and hunting down collectibles hidden along alternate routes. Levels are built around exploration and precise jumps, with hazards and enemies to work past and items to gather as you go. The handheld version scales the series’ TV-channel premise into 2D side-scrolling play, with colourful sprite work and stage themes standing in for the console game’s larger worlds. Progress comes from clearing stages and finding the objects needed to open up new ones. It suits players looking for a straightforward portable platformer with the Gex character and the show-hopping setting the series is known for.
