Gex – Sega Saturn Game

Gex is a side-scrolling platformer for the Sega Saturn starring a wisecracking gecko pulled into the world of television. Stages are themed around TV genres such as horror, cartoons and jungle adventure, and you make your way through them by jumping, tail-whipping enemies and using Gex’s sticky feet to climb walls and cling to ceilings. Eating flies restores health, and power-ups grant temporary abilities like fire or electric attacks. Levels hide remote controls and other collectibles that open up further stages, encouraging you to search side routes rather than run straight for the exit. Gex fires off a constant stream of one-liners and pop culture references as he moves, and the game’s humour and TV parody run through its art and level design.
