Gitaroo Man – PS2 Game

Gitaroo Man is a rhythm game with a cartoon presentation and an unusual control scheme. You play as U-1, an ordinary, unlucky kid who transforms into the guitar-wielding hero Gitaroo Man and faces a series of musical opponents in one-on-one duels. Each song is broken into phases: during attack sections you trace a winding line across the screen with the analog stick while pressing and holding a button in time with the notes, and during defence you tap incoming button prompts to reduce damage. A health bar for each fighter rises and falls with your accuracy, so a stage is won or lost on performance rather than a score threshold alone. The soundtrack moves through rock, acoustic and electronic styles to match each opponent.
