Gradius V – PS2 Game

Gradius V is a horizontally scrolling shooter for the PlayStation 2, developed by Treasure and published by Konami. You pilot the Vic Viper through fortified stages of organic and mechanical enemies, gathering power-up capsules that fill a selection bar used to upgrade speed, missiles, shields and shot types. Before starting, you choose an Option configuration that determines how your trailing pods behave, letting you aim, lock or rotate their fire in different ways. Boss encounters and stage hazards lean on pattern recognition, and destroyed sections of the environment often open new routes through a level. The game includes two-player simultaneous play, difficulty settings, and stage-based scoring for repeat attempts. Presentation combines polygonal backgrounds with the series’ familiar weapon layout and audio cues.
