Grandia II – PS2 Game

Grandia II is a turn-based role-playing game, released on PlayStation 2 following its earlier appearance on Dreamcast. You play as Ryudo, a mercenary Geohound hired to escort Elena, a songstress of the church, on what is meant to be a simple assignment. The job goes wrong, and the party is drawn into a conflict involving the scattered remains of the devil Valmar. Combat plays out on a field where characters move in real time between actions, letting you cancel enemy attacks with well-timed strikes or reposition to hit multiple foes. Special moves and spells level up through repeated use, and magic is assigned by equipping Mana Eggs. The journey is broken up by towns, dungeons and extended character conversations at rest points.
