Guilty Gear X Advance Edition brings Arc System Works’ 2D fighting series to the Game Boy Advance. The handheld’s smaller sprites and reduced button count mean the control scheme and presentation are pared back from the console versions, but the core of the series is intact: side-view one-on-one matches, motion-input special moves, air dashes, a Tension gauge for supers and Instant Kill attacks. The cast is drawn from Guilty Gear X, with Sol Badguy and Ky Kiske among the fighters, and the rock-flavoured soundtrack is adapted to the GBA’s sound hardware. Single-player play runs through a series of opponents, with survival and practice options included, and link cable support allows two players to fight each other on separate systems.
