Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus brings Arc System Works’ 2D fighter to the Wii. Matches are one-on-one bouts between hand-drawn characters with distinct movesets, fought with air dashes, high-jumps, throws, and extended combos. System mechanics include Roman Cancels, bursts, and a tension gauge that fuels super moves, giving both offense and defense a lot of options. The package includes arcade-style single-player ladders, versus play for two people on one console, training, and additional modes such as story sequences and survival-style challenges. On Wii you can play with the Classic Controller or GameCube controller, and the Remote can be used as well. The art style is sprite-based rather than polygonal, backed by a guitar-heavy soundtrack. It rewards time spent in training mode learning each character’s tools.
