Harvest Moon: Magical Melody frames the usual farming routine around a search for Musical Notes. The Harvest Goddess has turned to stone, and notes are earned by completing all sorts of activities: growing crops, raising animals, fishing, cooking, befriending townspeople and taking part in events. Collecting enough of them is the game’s long-term goal. You choose a plot of land to farm, then work through the seasons planting, watering and harvesting, caring for livestock, and selling what you produce to fund tools and upgrades. The surrounding town is home to shops, festivals and a cast of residents with their own routines, including marriage candidates you can court and eventually settle down with. Days pass on a clock, so deciding what to do before nightfall is part of the loop.
