Ico is a puzzle-driven adventure for the PlayStation 2 in which you play as a horned boy left in a vast, isolated castle. Early on you free a pale girl named Yorda, and most of the game involves getting the two of you through the castle together. You take her by the hand, call to her, and help her across gaps and up ledges she cannot manage alone, while solving environmental puzzles that involve pushing blocks, climbing chains, operating switches, and moving through the architecture itself. Shadowy creatures appear to drag Yorda away, and you fight them off with a stick or sword. There is very little dialogue or on-screen interface; the story is told through animation, sound, and long stretches of quiet exploration in wide, mostly empty spaces.
