Ikaruga – Gamecube Game

A vertically scrolling shooter developed by Treasure, built around a polarity system. Your ship can switch between black and white at will, absorbing enemy bullets of the matching colour to charge a homing counterattack while taking damage from the opposite colour. Enemies and their fire are colour-coded too, and shots do more damage to targets of the opposing polarity, so every wave becomes a question of when to flip. Destroying enemies in groups of three of the same colour builds a chain, which is the core of the scoring system and rewards planning routes through each formation. Stages are short but tightly designed, with dense bullet patterns and large bosses that shift between both polarities. Two players can play at once. The GameCube version presents the game vertically or in a rotated screen orientation.
