Independence Day – Sega Saturn Game

Independence Day brings the alien invasion film to the Sega Saturn as an arcade flight combat game. You pilot fighter aircraft in missions set over locations around the globe, dogfighting alien attackers while the invaders’ vast destroyer ships loom above the skyline. Goals typically involve clearing waves of enemy craft, defending targets on the ground and striking at the alien ships, with several selectable aircraft that differ in speed, durability and armament. Controls are kept accessible, with a chase camera, lock-on targeting and straightforward gun and missile fire rather than detailed flight modelling. Mission timers and objective markers keep each sortie brief and focused. Between missions, briefings and cinematic sequences carry the story forward in the style of the film it is based on.
