James Pond – Sega Genesis Game

James Pond casts you as an underwater secret agent fish working against pollution and sabotage at sea. Each level is a self-contained mission with an objective to complete, such as rescuing captured sea creatures or dealing with hazards, and you are free to swim in all directions through the water rather than being limited to simple left-to-right movement. Pond can also stretch and use his body to reach and grab things. Enemies patrol the levels and contact costs you a life, so learning the layout and the timing of obstacles matters. Presentation is cartoon-styled, with bright underwater backdrops and comic spy touches, and the game’s humour runs to fish-based wordplay throughout. A platform-adventure hybrid for the Genesis with an emphasis on objective-based stages.
