Jet Grind Radio – Sega Dreamcast Game

Jet Grind Radio is the North American release of Sega’s cel-shaded skating game for the Dreamcast. You join the GGs, a crew of rollerbladers led by Beat, and skate through districts of Tokyo-to grinding rails, riding walls and chaining momentum together while spraying graffiti over rival gangs’ tags. Tagging larger pieces requires performing analog stick gestures on the spot, all while police forces escalate their attempts to stop you. Levels are compact but layered, rewarding players who learn routes and keep a line going without stopping. Between stages you unlock additional skaters and graffiti designs, and a graffiti editor lets you create your own tags. The presentation pairs heavy black outlines and flat colors with a soundtrack of hip hop, electronic and pop tracks piped in over pirate radio.
