Judge Dredd – Gameboy Game

Judge Dredd on Game Boy is a side-scrolling action game based on the 2000 AD lawman. You move through the streets and interiors of Mega-City One, working left to right through levels while shooting and fighting the criminals in your path. Dredd’s Lawgiver pistol is the mainstay of your arsenal, and perps can be dealt with by force or taken into custody. Between the shooting sections you climb, jump and drop through multi-level environments, with bosses closing out stages. The presentation uses the handheld’s monochrome palette, with comic-styled sprites and stark city backdrops. As with other portable versions of licensed action games from the era, the focus is on straightforward run-and-gun progression rather than exploration.
