King’s Field – PS1 Game

King’s Field is a first-person role-playing game played in real time. You explore a connected underground world one careful step at a time, mapping corridors, finding keys and shortcuts, and opening routes back to earlier areas. Combat happens in the same first-person view without menus or transitions: you time swings, back away from counterattacks and watch your stamina, since attacking wildly leaves you open. Weapons, armour, rings and consumable items are found in the environment, and magic is learned and cast from a limited pool. Enemies do not scale to you, so some areas are best avoided until you are better equipped. Progress is saved at set points, and much of the story is pieced together from item descriptions and sparse conversations rather than long cutscenes.
