An action adventure set in the world of Nosgoth. You play as Raziel, a vampire lieutenant executed by his master Kain and resurrected as a soul-devouring wraith. Traversal and combat revolve around Raziel’s ability to shift between the material and spectral planes: the spectral realm warps the geometry of the world, opening routes that are blocked in the physical one, while returning to the material plane requires finding a planar portal. Raziel consumes souls to sustain himself, gains new abilities as he progresses, and eventually wields the Soul Reaver blade. Enemies must often be finished off in specific ways, such as impaling them or exposing them to sunlight or water. Between fights, you solve block-pushing and switch puzzles while exploring the interconnected ruins of Nosgoth, with the story told through extensive voiced dialogue.
