The Dreamcast version of the third-person action adventure starring Raziel, a vampire cast down by his master Kain and returned as a wraith who feeds on souls. Exploration is built around shifting between the material and spectral planes, which changes the shape of the environment and lets you pass obstacles that block you in the physical world; getting back to the material plane means locating a planar portal. Combat asks you to finish enemies off deliberately, using impalement, fire, water or sunlight, and Raziel later carries the spectral Soul Reaver blade. New movement and combat abilities open up earlier areas of the ruined land of Nosgoth, and progress is broken up by block-pushing and switch puzzles. The story is delivered through lengthy voiced cutscenes and dialogue.
