Mario Party: Island Tour is a party game for Nintendo 3DS built around board games and minigames. Up to four players move across themed boards, each with its own rules and win conditions rather than a single shared format, so some are races to the goal while others use different scoring systems. Landing on spaces triggers events, and minigames use the buttons, touch screen and microphone across short contests of timing, reflexes and puzzle-solving. Characters from the Mario series are playable. A tower-climbing mode pits you against a series of floors and challenges in solo play. Local multiplayer is supported, including Download Play so several systems can join using a single copy of the game.
