Mario Sports Mix – Wii Game

Mario Sports Mix collects several arena sports into one Wii release, with basketball, volleyball, dodgeball and hockey each playing by its own simplified rules. Matches support up to four players locally, and you pick from Mario series characters split into types such as all-around, speedy, powerful, technical and tricky, which affects shooting, movement and defence. The Wii Remote handles shots, passes, blocks and dodges with a mix of motion and button input, and special shots charged during play can score bigger or knock opponents around. Courts include hazards and item boxes that drop shells, bananas and other Mario staples into the action. Tournament modes let you play through brackets in each sport against computer teams, and a set of side minigames rounds out the package alongside exhibition matches.
