Mass Destruction on the Sega Saturn is a mission-based tank combat game played from an angled overhead view. You drive a tank across outdoor maps, working through objectives that involve destroying enemy bases and emplacements, dealing with opposing armour and aircraft, and protecting or reaching specified targets. The environments are heavily destructible: buildings, trees, and other scenery can be shelled apart, letting you clear obstacles and force your own routes through a map. Your tank has a main gun plus additional weapons and pickups collected in the field, and you keep an eye on armour and ammunition between engagements. Missions are grouped across different settings with varied layouts and defences, each starting from a briefing that lists the goals you need to clear.
