Mortal Kombat Mythologies

Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero is a side-scrolling action game rather than a one-on-one fighter. You control Sub-Zero across 2D stages filled with enemies, platforming sections and traps, using the series’ punch, kick and block controls alongside ice-based special moves. A turn button lets you change facing while fighting. Defeating enemies earns experience that unlocks additional abilities, and exploring stages reveals items and hidden areas. The plot serves as a prequel to the fighting games, following Sub-Zero on a mission connected to the series’ larger mythology, and it is delivered through live-action full-motion video sequences between levels. Boss encounters against recognizable series characters close out sections of the game. The PlayStation release makes use of the disc format for its cinematics and voice work between stages.
