Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Heroes 2: The Phantom Fortress continues the PSP fighting series, keeping the 2D-plane arena combat of its predecessor. You build a team of ninja and switch between them during matches, using attack strings, thrown weapons, guards and chakra-powered techniques, with cinematic Ultimate Jutsu attacks as finishing blows. Alongside straight versus battles, the game includes a single-player mode themed around a fortress, where you progress through a series of encounters and unlock additional characters, items and support options as you go. Local wireless play lets two players fight head to head. The roster and stages are drawn from the Naruto series and rendered in a cel-shaded style with anime-styled animation, and the pace of individual matches keeps sessions short, which suits the handheld format.
