NBA 2K1 is a five-on-five basketball simulation for the Sega Dreamcast, played with licensed NBA teams and players. Games run on standard basketball rules with adjustable quarter lengths and difficulty, and control covers shooting, passing, post play and defensive assignments, with play calling available on the fly. Alongside single games you can take a team through a season and into the playoffs, and multiple players can compete on one console. The Dreamcast release supports online play through Sega’s network service, which is no longer operating. Presentation follows a television broadcast style, with commentary, replays and arena crowd audio between plays.
