NBA 2K2 on Sega Dreamcast is a five-on-five basketball simulation with licensed NBA teams, players and arenas. Matches follow standard rules with adjustable quarter lengths and difficulty, and you handle shooting, passing, post play, dribble moves and defensive assignments while calling plays during possessions. Along with single games there is season and playoff play and longer-term team management, plus street-style options that move the action away from the standard NBA presentation. Broadcast-style presentation includes commentary, replays and arena crowd audio. Several players can compete on one console. The Dreamcast release includes online support through Sega’s network service, which is no longer in operation.
