NBA All-Star Challenge on Sega Genesis is a basketball game centred on one-on-one play and skills contests rather than full team games. You choose from NBA players and take them into short events, including head-to-head one-on-one matches and shooting competitions such as free throws and three-point shooting. Controls are straightforward, covering shooting, driving to the basket and defending, which keeps individual rounds brief. The NBA license means you compete with recognisable player names of the period. Presentation includes crowd audio, on-court sound effects and score displays sized for a television screen. A second player can join for direct competition on the same console, and the event-based structure suits short sessions or repeated attempts at improving your scores.
