This Xbox release brings the NBA Jam series to Microsoft’s console with licensed NBA teams and players rendered in 3D. Matches use small squads on a single court, with fouls and free throws removed so play moves quickly between fast breaks, steals and blocks. Players jump far higher than any real athlete for showy dunks, and stringing together made shots sets a player on fire for a stretch of boosted shooting. Turbo governs sprints and stronger moves. Alongside straight exhibition games there are single-player progression options that unlock additional content, plus local multiplayer for teaming up or playing against a friend. Commentary and crowd audio accompany the action. Controls are kept simple, built around shoot, pass and turbo rather than deep playbooks.
