Underground 2 expands the street-racing formula into a free-roaming city you drive between events, choosing races from the map or by finding them on the road. Event types include circuits, sprints, drag races, drift competitions and street X, along with outrun challenges against rival drivers you encounter while cruising. Customisation goes further than before, covering performance parts plus body kits, wheels, paint, vinyls, hydraulics, audio equipment and trunk displays, with visual ratings tied to progression. You unlock new districts, shops and cars as your reputation grows. The GameCube version keeps the open-city structure and career mode, with local split-screen racing available. Nitrous and a night-time city setting remain central to how races play out.
