Nemesis – Gameboy Game

Nemesis is a horizontal-scrolling shooter for the Game Boy, part of Konami’s Gradius line of games. You pilot a small starfighter through side-scrolling stages filled with enemy formations, terrain hazards and boss encounters, firing forward while dodging incoming shots in tight spaces. Power-ups collected from destroyed enemies feed the series’ familiar upgrade bar, letting you choose when to spend capsules on speed increases, additional shot types, missiles, trailing options and a protective shield. Because the upgrades are chosen rather than picked up at random, part of the game is deciding how to build your ship for the stage ahead. Losing a life strips your equipment away, so recovery runs are a real test. The monochrome presentation keeps sprites small and readable on the handheld screen.
