Odama is a GameCube game that combines pinball with real-time strategy, set in a stylised feudal Japan. A giant ball called the odama rolls across battlefield tables, and you use flippers to keep it in play, knocking down enemy structures and troops. At the same time you command your own soldiers, who must escort a bell forward across the field toward the enemy’s position. Losing the ball or letting your forces be wiped out ends the battle. The game supports the GameCube microphone, letting you shout orders to your troops rather than relying only on the controller. Balancing the pinball action against the movement of your army is the core of each stage, and the two systems constantly interfere with one another as battles unfold.
