Onimusha 2 – PS2 Game

Onimusha 2 is an action game set in a demon-haunted version of feudal Japan. You play as the swordsman Jubei, fighting through castles, villages, mines and forests against the Genma army serving Nobunaga. Combat centres on sword and weapon attacks, blocks and counters, and absorbing souls from fallen enemies to restore health and magic and to strengthen your weapons. Exploration follows the survival-horror template of the era: pre-rendered backgrounds with fixed camera angles, item and key hunting, and puzzles blocking your path forward. You meet several other characters during the story, and giving them gifts can change how they help you, which affects the sections you play and the paths available. Boss fights punctuate the chapters and require learning attack patterns and timing your critical strikes.
