Pirates of Dark Water – Sega Genesis Game

The Pirates of Dark Water on Sega Genesis is an action game based on the animated series of the same name. It plays as a side-scrolling brawler in which you fight through stages using melee attacks, jumps and blocks against waves of enemies, with bosses closing out areas. You can play as different characters from the show, including Ren and his allies, each handling somewhat differently in combat and reach. Levels move through settings drawn from the cartoon’s world of islands, ships and caverns, with pickups scattered along the way to restore health or aid you in a fight. Sprite art and character portraits follow the look of the series, and the story frames the action as a quest tied to the spreading Dark Water. Play is stage-based, working through each area toward its boss encounter.
