Popeye – NES Game

Popeye brings the single-screen arcade game to the NES. You play as Popeye, moving along the platforms and ladders of a stage while Olive Oyl drops hearts, musical notes or letters from above. Your job is to catch every falling item before it hits the water or the ground, all while Brutus chases you around the level and other hazards come at you from the sides. Touching a can of spinach lets you turn the tables and knock Brutus out of the way for a short time. Clearing one screen’s worth of items moves you on to the next layout, and the pace gradually tightens as you go. The controls are simple, with movement, ladders and a punch, and play is built around learning the routes and timing on each screen.
